The method
Shadowing is standard practice for simultaneous interpreters, and the only part of language learning that trains your mouth instead of your eyes.
You hear a native speaker and repeat immediately, matching their rhythm, stress and intonation before your own accent gets in the way. It works at every level. The only thing that changes is which clips you practice on.
Shadowing alone can't tell you whether you actually matched the speaker, and a mistake you repeat is a mistake you learn. Scoring every word is what gives the practice a direction.
