How to practise English conversation as a beginner
English conversation practice for beginners works best on very short dialogues, where you can hold both turns in your head at once. Every clip here is graded A1 or A2.
- Learn the short answers first. Sure, not really and me too carry more beginner conversations than any full sentence.
- Say the whole exchange, both people, out loud. At this length you can hold it.
- Answer without the pause. The gap before you speak is what sounds unsure, not the grammar in it.
- Reuse one dialogue for a week. Repetition is what turns a phrase into speech.
What these dialogues cover
Everyday English conversation: greetings, shopping, directions, plans, small talk, each with a full transcript.
- Situations you will actually be in, rather than exam topics.
- Two speakers at a natural but unhurried pace.
- A clear next step: the full conversation collection when these feel easy.
