How to learn English with songs and lyrics

A melody holds a phrase in memory long after a drill has gone, which is why a chorus learned at fifteen is still there. Used carefully, songs are pronunciation practice.

Learn one verse properly instead of the whole song badly.
Say the line before you sing it. The melody hides how the English words are actually joined.
Do not copy the vowels of a singer holding a note. Copy the consonants.
Use the words on screen. Guessing lyrics by ear teaches the wrong words.
