- In this English lesson I will invite you along with me for part of my day so that you can0:17
- see my daily routine and along the way you'll be able to learn how to talk about your daily routine.0:23
- So in this video we'll go from the moment I wake up until about the end of my work day.0:29
- This is part one of two videos where you're going to learn to talk about your daily routine.0:35
- The very first thing I do every day is I wake up and then I usually press the snooze button0:44
- on my alarm clock.0:50
- When you wake wake up, it means you go from being asleep to being awake.0:53
- But when my alarm first goes off, I usually want to sleep just a little bit more.0:57
- So I'm going to do that right now.1:02
- So the second thing I do in the morning is I get up.1:07

- When you get up, it means you actually get out of bed.1:11
- So I think it's time for me to get up.1:16
- The first thing I like to do after I get up is I like to make the bed.1:19
- It's always nice when you have your bed made.1:24
- So after I get up and after I make the bed, I usually use the bathroom.1:27
- This room behind me is our bathroom and in English, you can say this a number of ways.1:32
- You can say, I use the bathroom.1:37
- You can say, I go to the bathroom.1:40
- You can also in Canadian English say, I use the washroom or I go to the washroom.1:43
- Uh this is the one one part of the lesson though where I'm not taking the camera with me.1:49

- So the next thing I do every day is make breakfast.1:56
- I usually fry two eggs in a frying pan.2:00
- I usually make myself two pieces of toast in the toaster and I make myself a mug of coffee.2:03
- That is a pretty standard Bob the Canadian breakfast.2:12
- So after I make breakfast, I eat breakfast.2:16
- There's actually two ways to say this though in English.2:19
- You can say I eat breakfast but you can also say I have breakfast.2:22
- So I eat my egg on toast and I drink my coffee from my favorite mug.2:27

- But again every day I eat breakfast or I have breakfast.2:39

- I like to check my email every morning and I like to read the news every morning.2:50
- I also spend a little bit of time checking my social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram and TikTok.2:55
- I probably spend a little bit too much time doing that.3:03
- So this next part of my day you are not invited to because every day I take a shower.3:05
- There are There are two ways to say this though in English.3:12
- You can say every day I take a shower.3:15
- You can also say every day I have a shower.3:17
- I usually take a shower every day before I go to work.3:20
- After my shower, I dry off with a towel and then I put on some deodorant.3:25
- After that, I get dressed.3:31
- I decide what I'm going to wear for the day and then I get dressed and I get ready to3:34
- go to work.3:40
- After I get dressed, I go back to the bathroom and if I need to, I will shave.3:40
- But I don't actually shave every day.3:46
- But if it's a day where I need to shave, I shave.3:48
- After that, I get some toothpaste and my toothbrush and I will brush my teeth.3:51
- So the next thing I do is I come back to the kitchen and I make a lunch.3:56
- I don't like to buy lunch every day.4:01
- I don't like to spend money.4:03
- So I usually make a sandwich and I grab a banana and this will be my lunch for today.4:05
- So in English we would say every day I make a lunch.4:10
- We can also though say every day I pack a lunch.4:14
- When you pack a lunch it means that you put your lunch in a nice lunch bag like this one.4:18
- So every day I make a lunch and every day I pack a lunch.4:23
- The next thing I do every day is I grab my things.4:27
- When I say I grab my things.4:31
- It means that I grab my keys, I grab my phone, I grab my wallet, I grab my laptop, and4:33
- I grab the lunch that I made because I'm just about ready to head out the door and go to4:40
- work.4:46
- So the next thing I do in my daily routine is I go to work.4:47
- Every day at about 7 .30, Monday through Friday, I go to work.4:51
- If you were someone who is in school though, though, you would say, I go to school.4:56
- If you are someone who stays home, at this point in your routine, you might stay home.5:02
- But for me, every day at this time, I go to work.5:07
- One of the things I like about my drive to work is that there are no traffic jams ever.5:11
- It takes me only 10 minutes to drive from my house to the school that I work at.5:16
- When I get to work, I take off my jacket and I hang up my jacket.5:21
- and then I say hi to all the other teachers in the staff room.5:30

- I put my lunch in the fridge.5:38
- I teach my first class of the day, which is grade 9 French.5:41

- Every day after teaching my first class, I go to my teacher work area and I grade student work with5:55
- my red pen and I plan my lessons for my next two classes.6:03
- After that, it's lunchtime, so I eat my lunch and I talk to the other teachers who are in the6:08
- staff room eating their lunch as well.6:14
- Hey, did you see that hockey game the other night?6:16
- I know this doesn't sound very Canadian, but I don't actually watch hockey.6:19
- After lunch, I teach my next class of the day, which is computer class.6:24
- In computer class, I teach students how to make video games.6:28
- It is a really, really fun class.6:32
- And then I teach my last class of the day, which is grade 10 French.6:34
- This is our textbook.6:39
- And that's pretty much the end of my workday.6:42
- I usually put on my jacket at the end of the day and I say bye, bye everybody, to all6:46
