  3. But tourist traps in Europe that you should really actually go to at least one time in your life.0:06
  4. Because I know a lot of people say, oh there's so many tourist traps, you should never visit them.0:11
  5. But some are so cool that even though they're a tourist trap, you should go at least one time.0:14
  6. And I'm going to start actually here in Greece and that is Santorini.0:19
  7. You know, the island that's in the volcano called Dera that has the beautiful white buildings that blue dome.0:23
  8. You see it in every single Greek tourism bureau sure in the world.0:30
  9. I mean, it's everywhere.0:35
  10. The thing is it's so populate, it gets so overrun with tourists that it really sometimes feels like a tourist trap with all the overpriced restaurants, the accommodation, just people0:36
  11. everywhere, the donkeys and all this stuff.0:45
  12. You're just like, oh man, this is just too much for tourist traps.0:48

  1. But the thing is Santorini is gorgeous.0:50

  3. Like go see it one time, enjoy it that one time and then go explore some of the other beautiful islands in Greece.0:55
  4. But honestly, it feels like a tourist trap, but you really got to go for that beauty because Santorini really is worth going to.1:01

  6. Now, the next tourist trap that's worth seeing at least one time when you travel is actually the Mona Lisa in Paris.1:07
  7. You know, you go to the Louvre, the biggest, most fancy as museum you can imagine when you go to France.1:13
  8. And you go there and you go see the Mona Lisa and people tell you it's a tourist trap because it's a small painting and you don't actually get to1:18
  9. get close to it.1:25
  10. And there's huge crowds around it and they kind of make it really difficult to actually see the Mona Lisa.1:26
  11. And is it really the real Mona Lisa that's there if you go on the conspiracy theory stuff?1:31
  12. So it feels kind of like a tourist trap.1:35
  13. But the thing is you should see it.1:37
  14. It's the Mona Lisa.1:39
  15. Go there at least one time and see that and you're like, okay, I saw it.1:41
  16. Then turn around and see the huge marriage and Canaanite painting that's there.1:45
  17. That's really cool.1:49
  18. And the thing is if you see the Mona Lisa, like, okay, I've seen that.1:50
  19. What's another museum I can see that isn't overrun like the Louvre?1:53
  20. I don't have to deal with that craziness.1:56
  21. Just go across the river to the Moussé Dorsey and you can enjoy amazing paintings there.1:57
  22. Now, my next tourist trap that you really should do is taking a beef eater tour when you go to the Tower of London in London, England.2:02
  23. I mean, honestly, for me, the best part of going to the Tower of London is actually the beef eater tour.2:09
  24. And it's the guys, they're all dressed up and they tell you the history of the Tower and all the things there.2:15
  25. And it's not just going to see, you know, the crown jewels.2:20
  26. It's so much more.2:23
  27. And the thing is when you see it, you think, oh, this is a tourist trap.2:24
  28. I'm just going to go through the Tower and see the things on my own and do this and see the crown jewels.2:27
  29. It'll be fine.2:32
  30. No, honestly, pay the money, go in the Tower and go be a part of one of those beef eater tours.2:34
  31. Because, yes, it really is touristy, but it's so much fun.2:39
  32. You got to do it at least one time.2:42
  33. Now, another one time thing I recommend doing is actually taking a gondola ride when you're in Venice.2:44
  34. Yes, it is one of the biggest tourist traps out there.2:50
  35. It is not cheap to go on them.2:53
  36. But the thing is, if you've got two or three friends you're going with, you can, you know, split it between the four of you than everybody's only paying like2:55
  37. 20 euros versus like 80 euros for the trip, right?3:00
  38. And the thing is going through there, watching the buildings go, having the guy push you around.3:04
  39. It's one of those things that one time it's worth it.3:10
  40. Twice, I don't think so, but one time.3:12
  41. And yes, you do have to tip them more to get them to sing, but it is one of those things you're like, all right, I got to do at3:14
  42. least one time when I'm here.3:20
  43. Now, another super tourist trap that is so nice and so much fun to go to, especially for tourists, I just want to kind of lay back and enjoy a3:21
  44. nice time and a nice beer.3:28
  45. Is if you go to the Hofbruchhaus in Munich, Germany.3:29
  46. Now there's tons of brew houses.3:32
  47. There's tons of beer halls in Munich you can go to.3:34
  48. I like going to Augustina Brewery to eat and drink and have a nice time.3:37
  49. But the Hofbruchhaus is totally tourism.3:40
  50. I mean, they've got the Unpa bands playing there and they're doing the chicken dance or the duck dance they call you.3:42
  51. Yes, can you see why I don't do TikTok dances?3:49
  52. But the thing is when you go there, there's so many people there that are just there to have a big beer, to have a good time, to have the3:52
  53. hox, to just enjoy being a tourist that is so much fun to just do it at least one time when you're there.3:59
  54. I've got a Munich dozens of times.4:05
  55. And honestly, I go at least one time each visit.4:07
  56. I do go to the Hofbruchhaus just to sit there and smile and enjoy the touristiness of it.4:10
  57. So if you're going to be in Munich, don't be too cool for tourist trap.4:15
  58. Hofbruchhaus, you should go at least one time and have the big beer for me.4:18
  59. Okay, Hofbruchhaus, you definitely have to go and visit when you come at least once.4:22
  60. Heck yeah.4:26
  61. So that's why it's on this list.4:27
  62. A place that, yes, it's a tourist trap, but it is worth going to just for the fun of it.4:28
  63. Now, the next tourist trap you got to see is the Eiffel Tower.4:33
  64. And I know the Eiffel Tower really gets on so many tourist traps list, but honestly, it's worth going to see.4:36
  65. And I'm not saying you have to go up all the way to the top, but just going there, being at the base of it, seeing how big it is,4:42
  66. going to park behind it, even if you're just going to be taking one of the same river cruises kind of things.4:48
  67. It's worth going and seeing just to be like, okay, I've been here.4:54
  68. And yes, you see it from all over the city of Paris, but to be there and like being standing underneath it, you're like, this is kind of cool.4:58
  69. This is well worth it.5:05
  70. Okay, so at least once on one of your trips to Paris, at least go buy it.5:06
  71. Go stand here and take it in because it's worth it.5:10
  72. Even it's just for a little bit of time.5:12
  73. And I think sometimes that's where a lot of these tourist traps come in is people spend too much time in them.5:14
  74. But if you realize that some of these things are good for a half day or a couple hours, it actually makes it from a tourist trap to eight.5:19
  75. It's a nice part of my trip.5:25
  76. And I think another kind of tourist trap that you should definitely visit that some people put in that touristy trap, why are we going there kind of thing, is5:27
  77. Stonehenge.5:34
  78. You know, if you're outside of Bath or between London and Bath, there's Stonehenge and you have the Stone Circular, but the thing is their information center there is so5:35
  79. informed of its fantastic.5:43
  80. You learn so much, but when you go there and walk around it and take it all in and hear the stories about it, it really has a cool experience.5:44
  81. But the thing is it's a half day.5:51
  82. Okay, if you're gonna think you're gonna spend a whole day there, then it really is a tourist trap and that whoever's to give you that tour of a full5:53
  83. day of Stonehenge.5:58
  84. No, you do not need that much time.5:59
  85. But it's cool to go one time when you go there and take it in.6:01
  86. And if you think that's enough time, go on.6:04
  87. Go to Bath and enjoy Bath.6:07
  88. Bath is a beautiful city in England.6:08
  89. They should really have a nice time and it's really close to Stonehenge.6:10
  90. Now another super touristy trap you place, but it's still fun to go to one time, is the Temple Bar in Dublin.6:13
  91. Now Temple Bar is an area in Dublin and when you usually talk about Temple Bar, they talk about the Temple Bar like the one pub that's there.6:19
  92. There's a lot of pubs there, but there's one specific pub.6:25
  93. And yes, it's a little pricier than other places for a drink, but honestly just going there to be with all the other tourists that are there, it's just kind6:27
  94. of a fun thing.6:35
  95. And you could do that, but just having one drink and then going out from there.6:36
  96. Because here's the thing, you're in Dublin.6:40
  97. There are so many fantastic pubs in that city.6:42
  98. You don't really have to go to the Temple Bar to really enjoy a pub time.6:44
  99. When you're there, but as a tourist, I mean, even just getting the pictures from the outside because kind of pretty, it's worth taking it in and having that one6:49
  100. drink and then going on your way.6:56
  101. But at least one time you should do that when you are in Dublin.6:57
  102. Now a museum that falls on a lot of lists is the Checkpoint Charlie Museum in Berlin.7:00
  103. And this is one that I used to live in Berlin.7:05
  104. I lived there for a number of years.7:06
  105. I actually like going to the Checkpoint Charlie Museum.7:08
  106. I don't know why they called it a, you know, really tourist trap kind of place.7:10
  107. But I think part of it is Checkpoint Charlie represents a time in history with the Cold War and people trying to escape from East Germany.7:13
  108. And the Checkpoint Charlie Museum tells their stories and gives you examples.7:21
  109. It's kind of a cool thing to see.7:25
  110. But the thing is, is people don't realize how important that Checkpoint was.7:27
  111. What a man at that time.7:32
  112. So going there, you actually learn quite a bit and it's worth going to.7:33
  113. Even just go one time.7:36
  114. It's worth doing that when you are in Berlin.7:37
  115. Now, I wouldn't go like every single time you go to Berlin.7:39
  116. I'd rather go to the Programming Museum.7:42
  117. Honestly, every time I go to Berlin, but you know, one time going to the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, learning about that history, how people got from East Germany to West7:44
  118. Germany or East Berlin to West Berlin.7:52
  119. It's an incredible story that they share there.7:53
  120. Now, some people say the pile of rocks behind me is a tourist trap.7:56
  121. No, going up the Acropolis and going to see the Parthenon up on top is not a tourist trap.8:02
  122. When you go up there, yes, there's probably going to be a lot of tourists going there up there with you and it could be hot and it could be8:07
  123. down on you.8:12
  124. But being up close, because I know it looks really cool from here.8:13
  125. But when you're up close to it, you're like, wow, that is insanely impressive.8:15
  126. Like it really is amazing experience.8:20
  127. When you come to Athens, when you're flying in, you first see the Acropolis or when you're walking around Mostraiki or the Plough District and you turn the corner and8:22
  128. you see, you see it up there, you see the Acropolis, the Parthenon up there.8:30
  129. You're like, oh my God, this is so cool.8:34
  130. You have that great vibe.8:35
  131. So you should go up at least one time.8:37
  132. Now, if you're going to be here and you've gone once, you probably don't need to go again because it can get very hot up there.8:38
  133. But at least at one time, you don't pass up on going to the Parthenon and going up the Acropolis.8:43
  134. It is actually a really cool experience.8:48
  135. And then there's a tourist trap that pretty much shows up at all big cities, all famous cities in Europe.8:51
  136. And that is the Town Square, like the main square and the restaurants on the main square, those can't phase on the main square because since they're in that prime8:56
  137. location where everybody wants to be, sometimes the prices might be a little bit higher and the flavor might be a little bit lower on some of the dishes.9:05
  138. But honestly, you're not there for the food and drink.9:12
  139. You're there for the view.9:14
  140. And that's why I say, you know what?9:16
  141. Sometimes it's okay to sit on Piazza San Marco and drink an overpriced spritz just so you can sit there and take in the basilica and you can take in9:17
  142. the square.9:26
  143. You can take in the people when you're in Prague and you're sitting on the square and they're trying to trick you into getting that too expensive beer.9:26
  144. It's worth it just to be there and take it all in.9:32
  145. And that's why I tell people, you know, we can go off the beaten path.9:35
  146. We can go where three or four blocks away from the main sites and get cheaper food and cheaper drinks.9:38
  147. But sometimes that tourist trap restaurant with that perfect view.9:43
  148. I mean, come on.9:48
  149. Who wouldn't want that view when you're having a drink, right?9:49
  150. Knocking back a mythos or some Uso here and just taking that in.9:52
  151. Sometimes it's worth it.9:56
