Learn English with Series: the A1 Countdown Scene from Stranger Things

This clip drops you into the walkie talkie countdown scene from Stranger Things season four, the sequence built around Eddie Munson's episode. English Shadowing for Beginners: Working Through the Countdown Scene

Work this clip in the order the scene gives you, not start to finish. It is short enough to run the whole sequence more than once in a single session.

  • Start at line 9, "Let's go.", and line 10, "You see her?", the calmest exchange in the clip, get the rhythm of two short questions before the pace picks up.
  • Move to "Let me out of here!" and "Open the door!", the second one repeated back to back, shadow it once at full speed and once slower to isolate the stress pattern.
  • Isolate "I'm gonna lock down his aim at 30 seconds!" on its own, the longest line in the clip and the only place gonna reduces, repeat it until gonna stops feeling like a stumble.
  • Chain "I'm gonna lock down his aim at 30 seconds!", "Aim at 20!", and "30 minus 10!" together, that is the pace the scene actually runs at.
