A B1 British Interview for English Speaking Practice

This clip opens the Easy English channel, where the two hosts explain what viewers are about to watch: interviews with people in Brighton and across the UK. It is rated B1 and moves at 171 words per minute, faster than most of the catalogue, so it suits a learner who can already follow British English at a normal pace without leaning on subtitles for every word.

The first stretch is the two hosts talking straight to camera. It then cuts into short interview moments about pubs, dating, confidence. That mix is what makes it useful daily english conversation practice: a clean introduction voice first, then the messier rhythm of real street interviews, inside the same short recording.

The Language in This Line: British English Pronunciation Practice

Line three carries the whole pitch for the channel in one breath: "Here you'll be able to integrate and immerse yourself with the English language and with our interviews you will learn authentic English how it's truly spoken on the streets." Say it slowly first. The stress lands on integrate, immerse, authentic, truly, spoken, streets, the content words that carry the sentence while the small connecting words get swallowed between them.

  • "Be confident, confidence is sexy." Two short clauses back to back, the second explaining the first. Practise the drop in pitch on the last word, that's where the line lands.
  • "Our interviews are made for intermediate to advanced learners but we also produce subtitles for all our episodes to help you." One long sentence with no pause marks in the transcript, good training for how a fluent speaker runs clauses together without stopping.
  • "Hiya, welcome to Easy English with me Mitch and me Izzy." Notice "me" instead of "my", a colloquial possessive you'll hear constantly in casual British speech but rarely see written down.

Working Through This B1 Interview, Line by Line

Shadow this clip in the order the hosts speak, not out of sequence. The introduction is clearer than the street interview cuts that follow it, so build confidence there before you chase the faster voices later in the video.

  • Start with line one, "Hiya, welcome to Easy English with me Mitch and me Izzy." Repeat it until the greeting rhythm feels automatic, it sets the pace for everything after it.
  • Move to line three next, the long sentence about integrating and immersing yourself with the English language. Split it in two around "with the English language" before you try it whole, it's the densest sentence in the opening.
  • Take line six, "Be confident, confidence is sexy." on its own. It's short enough to repeat five times in a row and hear what changes on each pass, useful english shadowing practice for a beginner still building rhythm.
  • Finish with line sixteen, about subtitles for intermediate to advanced learners, then play the recording back against your own version. This is where you'll feel whether you're keeping up with 171 words per minute or falling behind it.
